Setting just the right mood in your home is important.  The color of your walls can add a peppy flair or a calming oasis.  The furnishings can create a modern feel or a cozy country getaway.  Accents add just the right touch.  The lighting in your home is also an important factor.  The amount of light in a space will make or break the mood you have labored so carefully to create.  Too much light in an intimate space will kill a romantic, tender atmosphere.  Too little light in a work area is impractical and can be dangerous.  The right light fixtures or chandeliers is an important choice that should not be left to chance.

chandeliers are one of the more popular of the lighting fixtures and come in many styles for you to choose from.  wrought iron chandeliers are just the right thing for dining rooms where they can be suspended above the table.  Chandeliers also frequently used in entryways.  Since the entryway is one of the first impressions your guests will have of your home, the right chandelier can make all the difference.

Crystal chandeliers have a simple look and an elegant feel that can remind you and your guests of fine banquet halls.  Therefore, like the wrought iron versions, a crystal chandelier is ideal when they are suspended over a dining room table.  Chandeliers can also be put on a dimmer switch, putting you in control of the type of ambience you want to create.  If you would like to have a soft, glowing, intimate atmosphere, you can turn the dimmer down.  If you want a bright, elegant light, you can turn the dimmer up.  Wrought iron chandeliers are also excellent in smaller rooms.  They provide a touch of high-style in any room no matter what the size.

Pendant lights also create a focal point.   As such, they are best placed where you want to draw your guests’ eye.  Pendant lights are usually made of brushed nickel, copper, or stainless steel and come in a variety of styles.  The amount of options available for you to choose from means that there is a pendant light that will match your home’s décor.  Unlike chandeliers, pendant lights can have one bulb that is able to light up the whole room.  Pendant lights can also come with more than one bulb should you desire it.

A wall sconce is an accent light fixture that attaches to the wall and is best reserved for mantles, hallways, and fireplaces.  They don’t give off much light, so they are best reserved as an accent piece and not as a source of light.  Use them in intimate areas where a lot of light is not required.  Like the other light fixtures sconces are made from a variety of materials, including glass and wrought iron, and are made in a variety of styles that will fit into virtually any space.

Lamps are ideal for when you want to illuminate a specific area of your home.  For entertaining, try a floor lamp.  They are large enough to provide adequate light but small enough to be moved from place to place.  Table lamps are good for when you need just a small burst of light in a particular area.  As such, they are best in an office space, on a night table, as a reading light, or in a place where you work on your hobbies.  Be sure to choose a lamp that matches your space’s décor.  The wrong one will ruin the look you have worked hard to achieve.

Finding just the right mood for your home is important, and finding just the right lighting to reinforce that mood is equally as important.  After all the work you have put into to get your home looking just the way you want it, you will want guests to see the fruits of your labor.  Chandeliers and pendant lights are ideal for when you need large areas lit.  They also provide a focal point for your guests.  Wall sconces provide a burst of light for an accent piece, and lamps are just right for lighting specific areas of your home.  When choosing the light in your home, think about the style and function of your space in order to choose just the right lighting. Your home will thank you.
